Martyrdom and single parenthood do not have to go hand in hand or be interchangeable. I know it can be really tough NOT to feel like a martyr–someone who is giving it up, doing it all, and who is downtrodden and overworked–but no one likes a martyr and it isn’t particularly healthy for us anyway… Think of how YOU feel when you are around someone who is acting like a martyr. I’d like to share the story of Stephen that took place about 34 AD. Mention of him can be found in Acts chapter 6 and 7 of the Bible. He was said to be a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. Throughout the Bible we can read stories of persecution to those who followed God. Some were even martyred for their beliefs. The persecution of Christians, among others, is still happening today.
