Little Miss Spider

The beautifully illustrated book titled Little Miss Spider by David Kirk is a story of a determined little spider that emerges from her egg to find herself abandon by her mother. She searches and searches until she happens upon a beetle named Betty who offers to help her. The story continues with the search for the mother spider until brave beetle Betty finds herself rescuing little Miss Spider from the mouth of a predator. Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends

Of all of the children’s programming available on cable television, there is one that I find particularly intriguing. “Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends” is a show about a family of bugs and, I just found out, is based on a series of books by David Kirk. The show stars Miss Spider and her mate Holley. They are mother and father to several bugs, many of whom are adopted, and they take their parenting very seriously.
