I think we are all aware how horrible an oil spill can be. Birds that get covered in the oil suffer as they are more susceptible to the temperature, can’t fly, ingest the oil, which causes internal organ damage, and unless cleaned by humans, most birds covered in oil will die. Nothing says welcome to the beach more than a bunch of huge white signs that tell you to stay out of the water—NOT. Yet, that’s exactly what tens of thousands of visitors to San Francisco have been greeted with the past few days.
