Exploring Options Before You Make Changes

It can take a lot of research and exploration before a person decides to take the plunge and start a new business. Many of us do market research, read acres of books, and talk to a dozen people (or more) before we ever hang up our shingle and start our home-based business. Once things are under way, however, we may forget that it is often better to explore options and do some research before making a big change. Give yourself time whenever possible to explore all the possibilities before leaping into a change. I know that this is not always … Continue reading

Talk to Kids about Options and Choices

It is one thing to give our kids plenty of opportunities to make choices and problem-solve on their own, but as they get older we can also help them develop into independent thinkers and build self confidence by talking over with them different options and choices that are and will be available to them. I find that as my kids get older, they have a genuine interest in the world around them and they need to talk through and explore all the options that might be available out there for them. After all, they often have no idea all the … Continue reading

Give Options When Possible

As organized and simplified as we would like to keep our home businesses, it is also important to remember that people really do like to choose. When it comes to your products and services, as well as service delivery and other details—give the client or customer some … Continue reading

Recognizing Options

Perhaps this is just a single parent’s version of “can’t see the forest for the trees” but I do think that we can give ourselves a break by recognizing that we … Continue reading

Aimee Amodio has written some fabulous blogs about carpal tunnel here on Familes.com. I include her links at the bottom of this article. I would like to share with you my own experiences with this condition and the ways I have found to control it in my life. However, you need to do what feels best to you in your circumstances; if you feel you need to be treated with more intervention, you follow that feeling. The summer I was seventeen, I did a lot of crochet, cross-stitch, and typing. As the season progressed, I noticed that my forearms were … Continue reading

The Homeschooling Option

More parents than ever are opting to homeschool their children for all or part of their primary education. In fact, in 2003 approximately 1.1 million students were educated at home in the United States; this is up just about 75% from 1999. A decade ago, homeschoolers were primarily those who opposed public or private schools for religious reasons but now homeschoolers are as diverse as their public educating neighbors and friends! Why do people homeschool? The reasons that parents choose to homeschool are as varied as the parents, themselves. Additionally, few parents homeschool for only a single reason.People choose to … Continue reading
