Segway Users Unite

Segways, those state-of-the-art, two-wheeled, electric scooters have become a popular means of transportation since they were introduced a few years ago. Along with police officers, mall security, and tourists in Hawaii, the Segways have now become the preferred method of transportation by disabled people who say the unusual scooters offer them more mobility and dignity than wheelchairs. Which is why advocates for the disabled are trying to persuade big wigs at Walt Disney World and SeaWorld Orlando to lift a ban on the use of Segways within the theme parks. The folks at Disney have never allowed Segways on their … Continue reading

Weekend Fun In Florida

The Green Bay Packers have a bye week this Sunday so my neighbors are going to Florida. (Nice, huh?) They are season ticket holders who don’t travel if it means missing a home game. So, they are off the hook for a couple of weeks. And (sniff) here I sit (sniff, sniff) watching them pack up their motor home from my window (they leave first thing in the morning) wishing I could smuggle my own bags—and body–in their cottage on wheels. Other Holiday Events at Walt Disney World Resorts

In addition to the special holiday events at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, there are events all over the Walt Disney World Resort! At Disney’s MGM Studios, go see the “The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights presented by SYLVANIA.” You can stroll down New York Street and be dazzled by millions of lights. These lights are synchronized to a symphony, with carousels, angels, and Santa with his reindeer! This spectacle has been newly enhanced this season, and certainly makes … Continue reading

What’s the Difference Between Disney World and Universal Studios?

A common question I hear from those taking the trip to Orlando to visit Walt Disney World is, “Should I see Universal as well?” It’s a good question and my answer would vary depending on who was asking me. First, it’s imperative to know that if you’ve never done Disney, you’re going to need at least four days to see all the parks. I would actually recommend at least five, but understandably, not everyone can spare that much time out of their schedules. With four theme parks, two water parks, a shopping village, and more, it’s hard to fit everything … Continue reading
