Sidewalk Chalk Games

Break out the sidewalk chalk and think big! With a yard stick, or a board to use for a straight edge, your kids can use the chalk to draw a giant checkerboard or chess game on the driveway or patio. As a plus, it takes a while to color in all those squares! And it’s a good lesson in measuring and parallel lines. For checkers you can use different colors of paper plates. Outdoor Games and Track Day

Today was the annual Track Day at our elementary school. I will admit to grumbling just a little bit before I went. With only ten days left of school, I didn’t feel like giving up my last free Thursday. And I’ve been to so many track days over the years, they’ve lost a little charm. A Yard Project the Kids will Like Too

Add some color and texture to your yard or garden that can also double as a fun project, and later a game for the kids. You will need nine concrete stepping stones, each 1’square foot in size (you can use larger stones if desired, or for a large yard). Stepping stones are available at most garden centers or home improvement stores for a couple of dollars each. Fun with Flying Discs!

It was a gorgeous day, and the kids were bored. School’s out, and our family vacation wouldn’t be for another week. “Can we go to the park, Mom?” they whined. The weather is getting nice, or it soon will, so now is a great time to make some outdoor games. Ball Catchers This game is simple to make, simple to play, and your kids will have fun with it for hours. Items Needed: 2 One-gallon jugs (from milk or drinking water, with handles) Scissors Ball Indelible markers 1.
