‘Twas the Night Before Halloween

Here’s something way, way, way off the normal course of offerings from me to you here in the Pets Blog. My attempt at paying homage to a classic holiday poem, “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore –but with a twist. And it stars my three little monkeys: Murphy, Mr. Meow and Tabby. (Along with some seasonally appropriate Halloween cohorts, of course.) I’ll warn you now I’m no poet. Most of the rhyming is a stretch, the meter’s off, and who knows if any of it makes any sense, but this is what taking a nap the day before … Continue reading

I did some research on the web to try and find its author, but it’s attributed to “anonymous.” If anyone knows who the author is, let me know, so credit can be given. In any event, this poem is a … Continue reading

Gift of a Father’s Day Poem

One of my husband’s favorite Father’s Day Gifts from my kids was also the simplest. It is especially poignant when coming from a son. You will need: 1 piece of cardstock, paint or an inkpad, the following poem, and a picture frame. I typed this poem about Daddy’s and printed it on a piece of cardstock turned landscape direction. Footprints “Walk a little slower Daddy,” said a child so small. “I’m following in your footsteps and I don’t want to fall. Sometimes your steps are very fast, Sometimes they’re hard to see; So walk a little slower, Daddy, For you … Continue reading

Excuse This House

I received this poem for Mother’s Day along with a picture from my daughter and wanted to share it with all the mothers out there whose houses so often, like mine, are strewn with toys and not as clean as we would want them to be. Some houses try to hide the fact That children shelter there. Ours boasts of it quite openly, The signs are everywhere. For smears are on the windows, Little smudges on the door. I should apologize I guess, For toys strewn on the floor. But I sat down with the children And we laughed and … Continue reading
