Where to Travel in 2008

Have you made your travel plans for the New Year? Our family plans to spend part of 2008 flying 5,000 miles to reunite with family in Hawaii. In addition, we will keep with tradition and take shorter trips to visit other attractions near our home. In the coming weeks I plan to use this blog to profile unique events taking place around the world. How many times have you spent the night at a hotel? If you are like me, your answer is: “too many.” Nothing made me believe that more than an experience I had at a hotel last week. The Pope’s Former Wheels—Deal or No Deal?

Going, going… STAYING! So much for driving to Sunday mass in the Pope’s former car. Apparently, no one was willing to fork over enough money to pay for a 1999 metallic gray Volkswagen Golf believed to once belong to Pope Benedict XVI. The hatchback was up on eBay, but the auction ended Saturday without a winner. According to news reports, this is the second time in two years the car has been up for bid with no takers.
