FDA Warns Against Certain Zicam Products

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent a warning letter to the makers of Zicam concerning two products: Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel and Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs. (A third, discontinued product was also mentioned.) In response, the makers of Zicam withdrew the two products from the market, pending review with the FDA. Nutro Premium Pet Food has announced a recall of certain types of dry cat food: Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care and Nutro Max Cat with expiration dates between May 12, 2010 and August 22, 2010. These products are available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Israel. Why are these foods being recalled? Here is another recall, this time for infant gas relief drops. Johnson & Johnson is recalling one-once bottles of infants Mylicon gas relief drops in the non-staining version. There is a possibility that these drops might contain metal fragments that could have gotten into the product sometime during the manufacturing process. We don’t tend to think of decorative pieces as dangerous but Home Decorators Collection has decided to recall over 500 pieces just to make sure they don’t pose a danger to anyone. There have not been any reports of injuries thus far, but the company is issuing a recall in order to help keep it that way. Disney Stores Recall Baby Einstein Pajamas

As the headline says, Disney Stores North America and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have put into effect a recall for Baby Einstein pajamas. The pajamas are the ones that utilize the baby duck and caterpillar designs. The recall was announced yesterday, April 24th because the pajamas present a risk of burn injury to small children. While no injuries have been reported, tests indicate that the pajamas do not meet a children’s flammability standard.
