Why Am I Here? – Part 3

We’ve looked at why God has put us in certain places in our lives. Another way of looking at this question is why are we here on this earth at all? We are here because God created us and God has a purpose for our lives. ‘All things have been created by Him and for Him,’ Colossians 1:16. So we are here, because God made us and God made us for Him. We are eternal belongs created for a relationship with Him, Acts 17:27-28. We are here to live in relationship with Him, John 14:23, John 16:27, John 17:21-22. We … Continue reading

Finding a New Purpose

Purpose is an important element in a full and motivated life. Unfortunately, for those of us who have gone through a separation, divorce, death, or have become single parents for whatever reason–we might feel as though we are “in between” purposes or what we thought was our purpose has let us down and we are traveling through life without one. One of the tasks of rebuilding a life and getting strong again is to find and nurture a new or modified purpose… The first step to finding a new purpose is to let go of the old one. Maybe you … Continue reading

The “Fulfillment” Question

We live in an age and era where the focus on personal mission and fulfillment is incredibly strong—at least in our Western culture. So many of us adults have been raised to feel like we need to expand, contribute, be all that we can be, and generally do anything and everything besides sitting back and taking life easy. As single parents, we can easily get swept up in this idea of “fulfillment”—are our lives fulfilling enough? Are we doing all that we should be? Have we got ourselves off track and lost our sense of purpose? Where does fulfillment fit … Continue reading

Does Your Business Have a Clear Purpose?

Have you ever said to your child, “Just exactly what are you trying accomplish?” Or, perhaps, someone has said this to you at work, or when you yourself were a child? Well, sometimes this question can come off as annoying, but when asked the right way, it can get us to thinking about just exactly what ARE we trying to accomplish? In our home businesses, it behooves us to have a clear purpose and set a direction that makes sense to us and fits with what we are trying to accomplish with our business efforts. So, what would constitute a … Continue reading

Feeling Inadequate

Do you ever feel this way? I sure do. I find myself analyzing various aspects of my life and looking at how my abilities measure up to those of others. I know it’s not a healthy thing to do because I will never measure up in every area. There are some who have been given talents that others haven’t. There are those who were born “beautiful”, and those who weren’t. It seems some people receive unfair advantages while others struggle to make it. No one said life was fair. There are times when I wish I was a better wife … Continue reading

The Ballad of Little Joe (2003)

In this VeggieTales movie, apparently Bob and Larry had a misunderstanding. Larry thought Bob said they could do a Western-themed story, and Bob wants to do a Bible story. After some compromising, they agree to do a Western-Bible story, and thus “The Ballad of Little Joe” is born. Little Joe, played by Larry the Cucumber, is a very beloved son. One of twelve, he is favored about all the others, and for his birthday, he gets an embroidered vest. This doesn’t sit well with the brothers (played by the French peas) who only got mittens for their birthdays. Their jealousy … Continue reading

Changing Seasons

Have you ever had a feeling like something in your life was about to change; like a new chapter or season in your life is about to begin? That’s kind of where I’ve been for while now. In the past, prior to knowledge of a move, promotion or placement of a child in our home, I’ve had this feeling too. Maybe it’s just becoming familiar with the first tastes of a new season; like the crispness in the morning as autumn has approached, or the fragrant air of spring. Since I’m not sure exactly what God’s plans are for my … Continue reading

One Life to Live: Making the Most of Your Life

I feel like the title of my blog sums up my point. How do you make the most of every day? Forget your past for now. I want you to think about where you are currently with God. Sometimes it’s easy to let our past dictate where we are going. God is capable of meeting you right where you are at and transforming you into who He wants you to be if you’ll allow Him. If you’ve felt your life has lacked purpose or it feels like you’re lacking direction, please don’t fret. Make the decision that your life is … Continue reading
