Hidden Germs

I try to keep my house clean, but I will admit that I worry about germs.  We have pets, we wear our shoes in the house – I just worry that things aren’t as clean as they should be. And, I should.  There are places in the house where you might not think to look for germs. Where are some of the places you should look?  One place I forget about is under the rug.  I try to be diligent about vacuuming the rug, but I often think that is enough.  Remember to pull the rug up and vacuum the … Continue reading

What’s In Your Diaper Bag?

On the rare occasions I’m able to go shopping at a department store, I often pause to reminisce about pre-baby days. “I used to be able to wear those kind of swim suits,” I sigh, thinking sadly about my now sagging stomach. “Oh, for the days when I could wear tube tops and halters. There’s no way a strapless bra is holding these milk jugs up any more,” I lament, picturing my nursing bras. When I walk past the purse section, it almost brings a tear to my eye. I study the leather, canvas, and variety of buckles. I mentally … Continue reading

What’s in Your Purse?

It’s not that I’m jealous of other moms who are better organized than I am (okay maybe just a little bit) but I sometimes wonder how they do it. Especially moms who have more than one kid and manage to keep themselves and their kids together. I have one child and frankly at times I can’t do a simple thing like keep my purse organized. Really. Before I became a mom I swear I was more together. And although I manage fairly well in some aspects of my life I can’t seem to tame that darn purse. I keep changing- … Continue reading

Fashion Corner: Teacher-Loving Designer and Other Hot Trends

New York Fashion Week has unveiled a ton of eye-popping designs over the past few days, but one that is not getting nearly enough press (in my opinion) is an accessory we (ladies) typically don’t leave home without—our handbag. Enter Zac Posen. The fashion designer to the stars has recently teamed up with DHL to create a limited edition handbag. But, this is not your typical leather body, two-strap wonder. It is an ultra-glam, red and yellow tote. And, the profits from the bag don’t go to line Posen’s pockets. Rather, the designer is donating proceeds from the purse to … Continue reading

Tupperware Like You’ve Never Seen It Before

Who doesn’t have Tupperware in their kitchen cupboards? (Frankly, I can’t think of one of my cupboards that doesn’t have a Tupperware container sitting in it.) I’m sure you’ve heard of Tupperware being used to store leftovers, spin dry salads, and house caterpillars (my young cousin’s favorite use for the plastic containers). But have you ever considered using a Tupperware container as an evening bag? One creative Tupperware owner did and is richer for it. The Tupperware purse was entered into a recent contest sponsored by the makers of the iconic plastic containers in celebration of the company’s 60th anniversary. … Continue reading

Your Purse’s Dirty Little Secret

It carries your cellphone, your wallet, your car keys, even your tissues and breath mints, but did you know that your purse may also be carrying—GERMS! Germs, bacteria, filth, you name it and it’s likely living, nay, thriving, on the outside of your handbag (for some ladies it may even be breeding inside your carry-all). A new study done by several leading U.S. microbiologists discovered that your handbag could actually get you sick. At first, I was taken aback by the results, but once I thought about where many of us place our purses when we aren’t carrying them (everywhere … Continue reading

Crop In Style – Serious Style for the Scrapbooker

I am always on the look out for cute new purses. I don’t really know why I have a purse fetish, but I guess in ways it’s better than a closet full of shoes! They take up less room and are easy to store! However, as a scrapbooker, I’ve always been drawn to larger purses so that I can bring my idea books, magazines and layout ideas with me. If you’ve ever tried to cram a magazine into a smaller purse, it just doesn’t work or it looks crazy sticking out the top. Introducing the answer to all your problems … Continue reading

The Scrapbooker’s Purse

Recently, I had the pleasure of trying out a few new products. They were brought to us by Stone Creek Creations, Inc. Introducing The Trio. Imagine the fun you’ll have! It’s technically called the Krafter’s Purse. But with it’s new additions it’s become more than just a purse. They claim that once you craft with the Trio, you won’t craft without it. I have to agree. I enjoyed using it. I’m definitely getting one of my own, no doubt! The Krafter’s purse is not only affordable but extremely practical too. It has deep pockets and a roomy interior for storing … Continue reading

Crafts: Cute Denim Wallet or Purse

Do you or your kids have a couple of old pairs of jeans lying around that have seen better days? This is not uncommon. The good news is these jeans can be used for all kinds of craft projects, including making a cute denim wallet or purse. Simple Blue Jean Wallet Cut one back pocket off a pair of jeans, making sure you cut through the inner layer of denim too and leave a little extra fabric at the top (you want the whole pocket, not just the outer portion). Fold over the excess and hem it to create a … Continue reading
