Meeting the Radiation Oncologist

The tumor is gone, chemotherapy is done so what is next in my treatment plan; RADIATION. The medical oncologist is nice enough to give me about a month off to rest before the radiation starts. I had an appointment with my radiation oncologist, I already knew her, and she was my husband’s oncologist the year before. See in 2004 my husband was diagnosed with stage 1 testicular cancer. For women who have undergone a lumpectomy or mastectomy and must follow it up with radiation therapy, a walking program of moderate intensity can help to improve fitness and maintain hemoglobin levels. Doctors and fitness experts have known that aerobic exercise helps women undergoing chemotherapy to preserve their red blood cells. A recent study involved twenty-one patients who were surgically treated for breast cancer and undergoing radiation therapy 5 days per week for 7 weeks.
