Imus Returns

Has it been seven months already? That’s how long shock jock Don Imus has been off the air. Did you miss him? If so, start counting down the days–on December 3rd Imus will return to the airwaves and his well-paid hiatus will be over. I should say well paid and self-inflicted hiatus will be over. You’ll recall CBS Radio silenced Imus’ broadcasting career last April after he uttered a racist and sexist remark about the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. The incident sparked a national furor and numerous civil rights leaders and broadcast journalists called for Imus’ resignation. Imus fans … Continue reading

Actors Reveal Deep Dark Secrets

I didn’t think Isaiah Washington had any more secrets. And I certainly wouldn’t have expected that Star Jones Reynolds would be the one to reveal them. But, in a move that the former “View” co-host deemed “completely unscripted,” the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star shared news that he says not many of his fans are aware of: his father was murdered and heard about it on the evening news. The actor’s revelation was a dramatic on-air surprise for Reynolds who was interviewing Washington for her new show on CourtTV. According to Reynolds, one innocent question led to the shocking reveal. “I … Continue reading

What Does Jewel Adams Like to Read?

As we continue our series of what authors like to read, I’d like to share with you the list of recommended books Jewel Adams sent me. My interview with Jewel can be found here. One of Jewel’s favorite authors is Richard Paul Evans. “The Last Promise.” This novel, set in Tuscany and featuring a romance between a married woman and her tenant, was the subject of controversy upon its release. Deseret Book, Utah’s most conservative bookstore, decided that the topic was too risky for their audience and refused to stock the book in the stores. Curious, the reading public thronged … Continue reading

A Light in the Window – Jan Karon

Following on the heels of “At Home in Mitford,” the ground-breaking first novel in the “Mitford” series is “A Light in the Window.” Health problems caused our main character, Episcopalian minister Father Tim, to take a long vacation abroad. His own perceptions have changed after his near brush with death, and nature does have its way of creating change over time. Puny, his housekeeper, is engaged and will soon be married. Dooley, the rough-edged boy he took in, … Continue reading

Kylie Minogue Separates from Olivier Martinez

Kylie Minogue has split from her actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez. The two have been together four years, which is almost like twenty-five by Hollywood standards. The couple released a statement saying the split was mutual, amicable, and the two remain close friends. If you are not familiar with Olivier Martinez’s work, he was in Before Night Falls and S.W.A.T., but I always remember him as the handsome roguish boyfriend in Unfaithful. Kyle has gone through quite a bit lately. She began her career in the 1980s when she was on an Australian soap opera called “Neighbours.” After that, she became … Continue reading
