Hitting The Road In A RV

Call me naïve, but I figured with the price of fuel hitting record highs there would be far fewer gas guzzling recreational vehicles on the road this summer. Boy, was I wrong. Apparently, Americans (at least those driving through Illinois and Wisconsin) are denying high gas prices and hitting the highways in RVs. I know this because I was stuck behind a caravan of them on the way back from our family’s 4th of July festivities. About a year ago I wrote a blog about the costs involved in traveling in a RV. Price, it seems, has not affected the … Continue reading

Overnight Guests? Use Your Camper or RV as a Guest Room

If you plan on entertaining guests over Fourth of July (or anytime really) there is no reason that you cannot transform your camper or RV into a guest house or guest room. Of course, you don’t want guests to feel like you’re saying, “Go to your room,” but you might just find that they too will appreciate a little extra space and privacy. Of course, it depends on your guests, and you are the best person to judge the situation. If you already have a nice guest room or guest house, you may not need this option. “RV” Rolls Into Theaters

RV is one of the first summer movies to hit the big screen, opening in theaters April 28th. The movie is about a father who rents an RV and decides to take his family on a camping adventure. When Bob Munro’s (Robin Williams) boss asks him to go on a business trip to Colorodo the same time as his family’s planned trip to Hawaii, Bob gets a brilliant idea. Scrap the families Hawaii plans, rent an RV, and take the family on a camping vacation in Colorodo rather than a tropical Hawaiian vacation. Sounds like a fabulous plan to me. … Continue reading

RV-ing: Is it Right for You?

You would think that with gas prices hitting record highs that recreational vehicle (RV) travel would be experiencing record lows. But, according to trade groups, while sales of large motor homes have hit a road bump, there has been a boom in sales of smaller, lower-priced models that get better gas mileage. Americans spend $14 billion a year on recreational vehicles. From fully contained motor homes to popup campers. Travel experts say it is an ideal way to strengthen family bonds. It lends itself to adventure and convenience, which makes it increasingly popular with parents looking for vacation options that … Continue reading
