There have been several news reports and The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is warning seniors to be aware of a scam. Seniors and people with disabilities have been asked for money and checking account information in order to enroll in one of the Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. According to CMS, “This scheme is called the ‘$299 Ring.’ This is the typical amount of money Medicare beneficiaries are talked into withdrawing from their checking accounts to pay for a non-existent prescription drug plan.
