Classy Scrapper Magazine Interview (1)

As scrapbookers, we are always on the look out for new inspiration. A fellow scrapbooker, Ashley Smith, has decided to take that quest for finding more inspiration a step farther by starting a new scrapbook magazine. Classy Scrapper Magazine will be the title of her new creation that will be launching in March 2007. I am very anxious to see a new scrapbooking magazine full of fresh ideas. On Ashley’s blog, she says that she hopes the magazine will be a place where they will be able to feature more “unknown” scrapbook artists than many of the other scrapbooking magazines. … Continue reading

An Interview With Think Inside The Box Owners (3)

….continued from part one and part two Part three of the interview I conducted with both of them: How do you promote or market your product? Erin and Julie: Ads in scrapbooking and craft magazines, online newsletters, consumer shows, trade shows, and most importantly, word of mouth. Our customers are our best marketing tool. What are some of the funny things that have happened since you launched? Our first letter that we sent to a magazine editor – we agonized over EVERY single word, editing and re-editing for at least 12 hours! Chances are, this 2-page masterpiece wasn’t even read! … Continue reading

Biggest Scrapbooking Mistakes – Journaling That Goes Nowhere

Journaling that goes nowhere is simply that. It is journaling that gives no information, doesn’t explain anything, or tell what is really happening in the photos. First of all, there is nothing wrong with journaling that doesn’t give specific information. Sometimes we find favorite photos that we may just want to journal a letter or advice to a child or the person depicted in the photograph. That in itself can complete a layout. But what I am really talking about when I refer to journaling that goes nowhere, is the scrapbooker who just plain despises journaling. You know you’re out … Continue reading

Sticker and Die Cut Categories

When organizing stickers and die cuts, things can get tricky. There are so many different die cuts available and stickers…don’t even get me started there. On one single sticker sheet many different themes can technically be represented. So how do you organize things like this when there are so many different ways to go? Well, there are lots of different ideas. Some scrapbookers like to just place all their stickers in one container and all their die cuts in another. But then how do you know what you have? How can you find the one you are looking for? That’s … Continue reading

Before and After

Are you planning to redo a space in your home? Whether you recently moved into a new home or you are redecorating a room, it’s nice to have a before and after record of the transformation. You can create a simple scrapbook to track the changes. It is a good idea to take several pictures before you begin the process, after the room is emptied, and during each stage of the redecorating process. When the space is finished, take pictures from every angle to show off your work. If you removed wallpaper in the process of redoing the room, or … Continue reading

Creative Play & Summer Fun

Getting our kids to play creatively requires more than a little imagination on our parts. Here are a few summer activities that our five year old is doing to keep herself busy, entertained and on the road to learning more about the world around her. Reading & The Zoo The first day of summer vacation, we took her to the Dallas Zoo. Among some of the animals we encounter, there was a female giraffe, born in 1973 who is the oldest living female giraffe in captivity. Instead of reading to her where we were going, we handed her the map … Continue reading

Last Day of School Ideas

Help your kids find ways to remember the school year, their teachers, and friends whom they may or may not see again next year. Pick up an inexpensive, light colored t-shirt and a fabric pen (or several pens in different colors) and let your kids have their friends sign the shirt. My kids do this every year and have collection of them. Whenever we clean out closets or drawers, they find them and take a trip down memory lane. If you prefer not to have children writing on clothing, help your child make an autograph book. Just staple several pieces … Continue reading

Friendship Theme Album – My Personal Album Day Four

It’s finally time to start with the new Friendship Theme Album. I had to make some major changes to get to this point, but I am satisfied that I am on the right track. The first change I had to make, was the size of the album and pages. I started with a 6X6 album and now I am using an 8.5X11 album. The larger sized album should accommodate more photos, as well as allow for my longer (more wordy) journaling. I chose an album that I could add pages to as I go, so that if I have another … Continue reading

Friendship Theme Album – My Personal Album Day Three

I’ve been talking about my Friendship Album I started last year and never finished. I seemed to get frustrated with it, and I’ve undergone some serious research to discover why. But first, let me show you some of the additional problems I was facing. Because of the size of the album (6X6), I couldn’t use the photographs I wanted. Most of the letter’s or journaling that I had, were so big they almost took up the whole page. This left very little room to see the papers that I had chosen specifically for each friend. When choosing the papers for … Continue reading
