In my previous two entries I wrote about ways to serve our family and friends, people we know. Today I want to center on something that is often very difficult to do: serving people we do not know – strangers. The word “stranger” seems to have such a negative connotation, but when I use the word I simply mean the old lady at the grocery store or the young student your child’s class: people we do not formally know. Serving Our Friends

Yesterday I wrote about different ways that we can serve our families. Today I want to focus on ways which we can serve our friends. I think an important part of serving others is to shine as a light in this dark world. We can show Christ to our family, friends, and even strangers when we serve them, especially in unexpected ways. In my last entry in the Devotions series, I talked about service or being a servant to others. I wanted to use that blog as a jumping block for this series over how we can be servants to others.
