Scary Places: RMS Queen Mary

While thinking about scary places, I remembered the RMS Queen Mary. When I think of the word “ocean liner,” usually something along the lines of the Love Boat comes to mind. But apparently, there are some disturbing happenings going on in the Queen Mary. The RMS Queen Mary sailed the North Atlantic for 31 years (1936 until 1967). Like the RMS Queen Elizabeth, her running mate, the Queen Mary helped transport troops during World War II. She was the third largest ocean liner in the world and at times, could carry as many as 16,000 men to war. In 1942, … Continue reading

Luxury Travel—Cruising In Style

Ditch the oars. Forget about the ferry. If you have the means to travel in style you may want to take advantage of a handful of ultra-expensive cruises that set sail just a few times a year. Oh, and if you think these luxury trips travel the high seas to the typical cruise locations, think again. Passengers who board the “Concert Cruises” can take part in Q&A sessions with their favorite crooners, or interact with them at … Continue reading

Elliot’s Bath and Elliot’s Shipwreck – Andrea Beck

The other day my husband stopped at the library and as per my request, grabbed me a handful of picture books to read to my children. Two that he brought home feature the cutest little stuffed moose I’ve ever seen, and if you know anything about me and my relationship with children’s books, you’ll know that the cuter the illustrations are, the better I’ll enjoy the book. The first book is “Elliot’s Bath.” It snookered me in right from the start with the front cover – Elliot is sitting in the bathtub, a cute rubber ducky at his knee, and … Continue reading
