Inspector Gadget 2 (2003)

When I saw that “Inspector Gadget” the movie had a sequel, with a different star, no less, I hoped it would be better than the first attempt at turning this cartoon into a live-action movie. It was different. It was less violent. Was it better? Well, it was sillier. I think that trying to compare the two would be difficult. Flubber (1997)

“Flubber” is a remake of the old Fred MacMurray film, “The Absent-Minded Professor,” but Robin Williams, in the role of Phillip Brainard, takes absent-minded to a whole new level. He’s even spaced off his own wedding twice, and as the movie begins, his patient fiancé Sara (Marcia Gay Harden) is preparing to give it one more go that very night. Have you ever been struck so speechless that you just had to sit there with a really vacant look on your face until you figured out what was going on? I had that experience just the other night, watching “Dudley Do-right” with my husband. We watched “George of the Jungle” together a few weeks ago and laughed our heads off.
