Hoop-Dee-Do – It’s a Wiggly Party! (2002)

I have a confession to make. I really fight the urge to wiggle, but sometimes, I just can’t help it. And it’s usually to the stupidest songs on the show, too – but hey, they’ve got a catchy beat. “Hoop-Dee-Do – It’s a Wiggly Party!” was a new one at our house this week. With the discovery that my two-year-old is a musical genius, we’ve done what we can to hunt up different musically-based DVDs for him to watch. He quite enjoys the Wiggles. We start this show like we would any party – with the guests arriving and getting … Continue reading

Summer Travel: Cute and Crazy Rides

My friend’s husband is an adrenaline junkie. But, she knew that was part of his personality before she married him, so she doesn’t flinch when he deposits her and their children in the kiddie section of a given amusement park and takes off for the trill rides. Personally, I can barely stomach the merry-go-round so I am only too happy to remain in the children’s area with my daughter. (Before we were married I would hang out by the games while my husband braved the twists, turns and drops of the thrill rides—-now at least I have my daughter to … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Middleton’s New Life and The Wiggles’ New Addition

Kate Middleton is adjusting to her new life without boyfriend Prince William. After nearly five years together, the couple recently decided to call it quits and as all things related to the future king of England the news made international headlines. Be that as it may, the intense media scrutiny apparently hasn’t stopped Middleton from carrying on with her daily activities. The 25-year-old was recently photographed leaving her parents house (she reportedly flashed a huge smile at waiting photographers) for her own London flat. She was later caught by paparazzi carrying a tennis racket and smiling again as she walked … Continue reading

Medical Crisis Strikes “The Wiggles”

A while back I happened to catch an interview Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa were conducting with Matthew Broderick in which the Tony-award winning actor confessed that even he couldn’t get tickets for his young son to see “The Wiggles” perform at Radio City Music Hall. At the time my daughter was only a few months old and I had no idea who “The Wiggles” were. Moreover, I was reluctant to believe that Sarah Jessica Parker’s husband couldn’t get his hands on a couple of tickets to see a children’s group perform live in concert at a venue that seats … Continue reading

Television and Your Toddler

When you have a toddler, you are faced with a lot of choices. So after you are done wrestling with the let them or not let them watch television, then you have to wrestle with what shows are good for toddlers or at least appropriate – and with the plethora of programming available out there – this can be a lot more difficult than just electing to put the television on PBS and calling it good. Not that I am knocking PBS, I was weaned on Sesame Street and the Electric Company. While the former is still available, the latter … Continue reading
