Adventures on the Road: Moose’s Great Escape

We managed to drive nearly 500 miles that first day on the road — from New Jersey, through Pennsylvania, and into Ohio. One great thing about Ohio’s turnpike (also known as Route 80) is their rest stops. We pulled off the highway for a walk and piddle break and found my favorite thing about the whole trip: a fenced in area specifically for walking and exercising dogs. How wonderful! If you’re ever driving that way, rest assured that the human areas of the rest stop are just as nice. A nice turnpike employee provided us with a list of what … Continue reading

The Great Large Dog Road Trip

Success! After weeks of web surfing, emailing, calling, and questioning, I’ve finally found an apartment that is willing to take me and my two dogs, Moose and Lally. We’ll be headed west from New Jersey on May 7th. And there’s about a million things to do beforehand. Jacobsen got the idea in downtown Olympia, when he saw dogs waiting outside a local pub on a cold, rainy day. His thinking was that if people can bring dogs into hotels and stores, why not bars and restaurants? On the one hand, I really like this idea. I … Continue reading

You don’t have to be a dog lover to love this blog. Here I thought Wisconsin was the booze capital of the midwest… I guess I was wrong. A friend of mine just returned from Minneapolis, Minnesota with his pooch Ming-Ming… drunk! Okay, I’m kidding, they weren’t drunk, but they did spend the weekend at the Millennium Hotel’s “Yappy Hour” where they imbibed in “poodle coladas,” “chocolate Labrador martinis,” and “K9 Cosmos.” It’s true… and they weren’t alone. The hotel hosted a cocktail-wagging happy hour for pets and their owners. From what I hear the turnout was incredible. Dog owners … Continue reading
