Fourth of July Picnic Favorites: Super Steak Sandwiches and Strawberry Watermelon Salad

You don’t have to host a backyard blowout to show your pride for our wonderful country this Fourth of July. Rather, a simple family picnic can be just as patriotic. Just remember to pack enough mouthwatering creations for the entire clan and then sit back and watch others set off colorful fireworks as you dine on your delectable dishes. Some of my family’s favorites are listed below. The first is my dad’s signature sandwich. It features one of his all-time favorite ingredients—-steak. Other Ways To Get Your Daily Water

Confession time! I usually don’t like drinking just water. Iced tea, lemonade, drink mixes — sure! Plain water? Only if there’s nothing else. But our bodies need water, and lots of it. Deliciously Refreshing Watermelon Cake

For the cake you will … Continue reading

There is a little town called Cave City that is renowned for having the sweetest watermelons anywhere. This is the time of year for them. While I don’t get over that way much, I had to … Continue reading

Do you know any good watermelon recipes? Our local grocery store is currently selling entire watermelons for $1.50. I bought three. I’m not sure why. My husband and daughter don’t really like navigating around the seeds, which means I am now desperately searching for unique dishes that incorporate the refreshing fruit. (In retrospect, I realize my purchase was fueled more by the price than our collective love for the fruit.) So what am I going to do with 10 pounds of watermelon? Throw my own Watermelon Festival? It’s not such a bad idea. During my search for watermelon recipes I … Continue reading
