Disney Teams Up With Scholastic

I love headlines like this. Scholastic books are a very firm part of my daughter’s childhood, as they were a part of mine. Scholastic is one of the major contributors to school book fairs and more. Disney, of course, is Disney. So what are they teaming up on? E Books Book-Flix, yes it sounds like Netflix and that’s the idea. It’s an educational website that will pair non-fiction e-books with short films that are based on popular picture books. You will be able to go to People and Places and you’ll find offerings on Abraham Lincoln. There is an animated … Continue reading

More Elliot Books by Andrea Beck

I can’t help it – I fell in love with Elliot while blogging about him last year, and when I found these other Elliot books, I just had to snatch them up. He’s just the cutest little stuffed moose! In “Elliot Bakes a Cake,” we find Elliot getting ready to bake a cake for Lionel the stuffed lion’s birthday. All the other toys want to help out too, but there’s just one problem! Tracey West has been an author for eleven years. While she recently wrote the Pokémon chapter books for Scholastic, she is perhaps best well known for her series, Pixie Tricks. After spending an idyllic childhood reading library books under the trees and watching Saturday morning cartoons, she attended Rutgers University and studied English and Journalism. She says: “When I was a kid, I loved to read more than anything. I still do. I thought it would be great if I could make up stories that would entertain people as much as other writers entertained me.” She decided to focus on … Continue reading

The Pixie Tricks Series — Tracey West

I was first introduced to the Pixie Tricks series by my local librarian as I was looking for something for my daughter to read. Sprite is a fairy and is also a Royal Pixie Tricker. He has been sent to round up the pixies and send them back where they came from. But each pixie has to be tricked in a different way, and he needs some help. Violet Briggs … Continue reading
