Taking Out The Bad Foods

Well I must confess I have a secret I like chocolate, I have 3 kids that I just took trick or treating. When we got home we went through the candy picked out anything that looked even a little open, tossed the pixie sticks also known as pure sugar. We only allow them 2 pieces on Halloween night and then 1 piece every day for about 2 weeks. Now we are not talking about the regular size bars these are just the little fun size bars now they are not great for them but they are still kids and I want them to enjoy their childhoods too.

I have done pretty good this week I must admit I did have 2 boxes of the milk duds. That is it, I actually am very proud of myself because there are only like 5 pieces in each little box. I did not sneak any others and trust me when I am sitting home doing my school work or writing this it is big that I did not sneak a snickers here or there.

We went to the grocery store today and bought fruits and baby carrots that the kids like for their lunch boxes instead of snack size cookies or chips. Every day when the kids are at school I am throwing something unhealthy out of the house. By the time they came home on Friday there was no soda in the house, most of the Halloween candy disappeared no I did not eat it. The ice cream bars are buried under all the healthy food in our extra freezer are my little secret they are actually low fat, low calorie ice cream bars stuck in a box of the ones they like. They may not even notice. We sat down the other night as a family and talked about healthy foods we like and why we were all making these changes.

Everyone seems to be on board except for getting them to eat broccoli, brussell sprouts or cauliflower they are willing for most things. They did say they would eat those too if I cover them in cheese or ranch dressing. Baby steps I guess.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
