Summer is here and the one thing I cannot stand is being stuck indoors working. I realize at some point maturity should set in and kick the daydreams out of my head. Until that happens, I sit in my office (dining room) and type away, plan, write an ebook, and engage in social media (for business purposes), and wish I was outside playing with the kids. Do you ever want to take your office outside?
As a homeschooling mom, I know the importance of giving the kids some time outside to play and unwind. Even a simple change of scenery like the front porch can change a mood or help the thinking process. I know it does wonders for me. So, as I sat indoors and missed most of June working I was beginning to grow weary. I needed a break. I was sick and tired of living on the inside. Before, I worked from home the kids and I spent all summer long outside. I missed the time I could spend with them. My two younger children will only remember a mom that was no fun and on the computer if I didn’t make a change. I would also burn out fast if I didn’t have some time to play. I know, again, I am a child, but I need some time in the sun.
My solution was simple. I purchased an iPad. I gather my iPad, notes, files, and pens then head outside on the porch or the backyard so I could work and play. Well, you can’t really work and play at the same time but just being outdoors has given me a fresh perspective. I have spent so much time working on the inside and sitting most of the day either homeschooling, writing, or managing a home business, that I felt like a slob. I know some are more mature then me and better time managers so they can enjoy the sun and work. But for me, I needed a solution that allowed me outside to absorb some vitamin D and to allow my little ones to play outside supervised. I am also more productive outside.
