Target Markdown Schedule for Christmas

target clearanceTake advantage of the Target markdown schedule for after Christmas deals.

The day after Christmas, Target will generally mark it’s seasonal merchandise down to 30 percent off, which is great if there was something that you want to make sure that you don’t miss. Some items go quickly, such as Christmas trees and decorations for the yard. This bigger ticket items may be worth getting right now, with the new discount.

Other items may be worth waiting for until the discounts go to 50 percent, generally five to seven days after Christmas. Get ready to grab light strings and gift sets at this price. They won’t last long.

When the discount gets to 70 percent in the Target markdown schedule, generally seven to nine days after Christmas, take advantage of it to shop for baking items with seasonal themes, such as cupcake mixes (just leave off the red and green sprinkles or have them anyway), baking pans to put away for next year, wrapping paper, cards, tabletop decorations and small toys.

About nine to ten days after Christmas, you’ll see those happy 90 percent off sale signs. While the merchandise will certainly be picked over by that point, you can still find some great deals on items in the dollar bin (stock up on pencils and stocking stuffers for 10 to 20 cents a package), holiday themed kids clothing and candy. Once the sale hits 90 percent, grab what you want, since employees may take everything down the next day. Sometimes they don’t even wait that long, and the 90 percent off lasts for just a few hours.

Now that you know a basic schedule of deals, let me offer an additional word of advice. Make sure to scan every deal. Sometimes merchandise is marked down ahead of the signs. You can easily find a bigger discount than the one that you expected. Enjoy!
