Tasty Low Calorie Snacks!

A snack should not take time to prepare. In fact, a snack should be easy to lay hands on and quick to prepare. That is the nature of a snack. One of the hardest parts of dieting is the idea that you need pre-prepare any snack foods and that you are going to spend time doing extra cooking or spending a ton of money on specialized foods.

So let’s make snacking a bit easier. Here are four, tasty but also very good snacks that are also low calorie and ideal for snacking on a diet:

Froot Loops

Yes, Froot Loops the cereal from Kellogg’s. The small .95-ounce box size has only 100 calories and 1 gram of saturated fat. You can have it with a half-cup of low-fat milk or just munch on the Froot Loops themselves as finger foods. They are small sized, but they can really do the trick to take care of the sweet tooth cravings.

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie Original Ice Cream Singles

Did I just say fudge brownie and ice cream in the same sentence? The mini cartons are ideal because they help us avoid looking the full sized pint in the eye. You can find them just about anywhere from a deli to a convenience store and they come with their own little spoon. They are also just 230 calories, 11 grams of fat and 7 grams of saturated fat.

Smart Ones Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae

This ice cream has just 170 calories, 3 grams of fat and 1.5 grams of saturated fat and lots of cookie dough, fudge and ice cream. It’s a great thing in a little package and if you want something to eat late in the afternoon or after lunch for dessert, this may be just the thing you were looking for.

Quaker Instant Oatmeal Express

I love these little packages. They are 200 calories, 2.5 grams of fat and only .5 of saturated fat. The breakfast cereal is hot, quick and you get to enjoy baked apple or hot cinnamon or golden brown sugar. You also get plenty of fiber in each bowl. It’s ideal for taking to the office or elsewhere because all you need is some hot water and you are ready to go.
