Tax Refund Travel Packages

I don’t know about you but my tax refund has been put to use paying for water, heat, and electricity for my home and fuel for my car. I know… glamorous it’s not and so much for taking advantage of the all those fabulous travel deals tour operators are offering right now. You know the ones that guarantee once-in-a-lifetime memories to far off lands… that cost half your tax refund.

In all honesty some of those travel packages are real bargains and quite enticing regardless of how much you got back from Uncle Sam. If you still have a few dollars left over from the government and have always dreamed of wandering through ancient cities or exploring age-old tombs then you might seriously consider the following deals:

Taj Mahal, India

For $1,500 per person you can take advantage of Friendly Planet’s 8-day Taj Mahal Express package. This price covers first-class lodging, airfare from New York, guided tours, and meals. In addition to touring one of the world’s most spectacular sites that took hundreds of masons and carvers 12 years to create, you will also visit the “Golden Triangle” of India, including the bustling capital of Delhi and the colorful city of Jaipur with its massive bazaars and awe-inspiring palaces.

Acropolis, Greece

Virgin Vacations is currently offering a six-night package to the Greek capital for just $1,199. Athens is home to one of the most striking symbols of the ancient Greek civilization–the Acropolis. It also boasts several other historic monuments including the Parthenon; the monumental gateway known as Propylaea; and a small Temple of Athena Nike. The travel package to Greece includes roundtrip airfare from New York; lodging at a midrange hotel; and daily continental breakfast. Machu Picchu, Peru

The ancient city of Machu Picchu sits nearly 8,000 feet above sea level, high in the Andes Mountains of Peru.
