Teen Marriages

Teen marriages seem to be a thing of the past. Today you will find very few teenagers who are getting married, but there still are some today. Teen marriage is not something to be encouraged. No matter how much you love a person, getting married in your teens is never a good idea.

In history, teen marriages were the only type of marriages that went on. If you were not married by the time you were thirteen or fourteen than you were considered an old maid. Today the standards of marriage have changed drastically. It is no longer something that is considered acceptable for teenagers to be getting married and having children at their young age. Marriage today is a commitment that does not occur in life until the early twenties at the very earliest. The average age for marriage today is reaching closer to the thirty age mark. This is the perfect age for marriage. At this age you are able to understand the commitment you are going to make better and you have more worldly experiences under your belt.

When you are a teenager, you do not even know what the world is like! You have not entered the world on your own two feet yet and you do not know what else is out there. This is not to imply that teenagers cannot really and truly fall in love because this is not the case. There can be true love between two people no matter how old they are. What is to be understood is that a teenager is still a child. They have not lived their life and have not seen what the world can offer them. Marriage is a decision that takes over your life. If you are not 100% certain of your decision to marry than it will never work.

Teen marriages are the type of marriages that are more likely to get married for the complete wrong reasons. Teen pregnancy is the top reason for marriage at this age. The couple could be forced into marriage by their parents or make the decision on their own. No matter how the decision is made, pregnancy is never a good reason to be married. The absolute only reason to get married is for love and love alone. Any other reason is not good enough to make a marriage last.

Even though, teen marriages are not as common as they once were, teens still need to be aware of the commitment that they are going to make. Marriage is not like what you see in the movies. Marriage takes real work and real effort to keep in going, if you start out for the wrong reasons than there is no where for your marriage to go except for down. Take this advice into consideration when decisions arise in your life, if you really love someone, there is no harm in waiting and making sure that you begin your married lives together on the right foot.
