Scott Baio Sticks with VH1

Scott Baio’s longest relationship just may be with VH1. The notoriously marriage shy Baio has agreed to a second season of his VH1 show “Scott Baio is 45…And Single.”

Actually, at the end of the first season, after working with life coach Doc Ali, Scott asked his girlfriend Renee to marry him. Renee had a surprise of her own – she is pregnant. So it seems as if this Hollywood confirmed bachelor is not only going to get married, but be a daddy as well. The second season of the show will concentrate on Scott dealing with his impending fatherhood. It should be interesting!

By the way, the show averaged 1.3 million viewers, ranking it in the top 10 cable programs during its time slot.

Ruckus over “Kid Nation”

When I first found out about the show “Kid Nation,” I decided almost immediately to not watch it for two reasons. One, I am really not into shows with kids, but the bigger objection to the show was it was taking the place of one of my favorites from last season, “Jericho.” “Jericho” has since been renewed for half a season, but I still did not care about watching “Kid Nation.”

Apparently, there is a bit of controversy surrounding the show. In case you have not heard anything about it, the show is about 40 kids, age 8-15, that try to set up their own New Mexico community without help from adults. Now, some officials believe that child labor laws were violated. Organizations such as SAG (Screen Actors Guild) and AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) are questioning how the children, who reportedly put in 14-hour days at times, were treated. Some people are wondering why the parents trusted these producers with their children. The parents of the children had to sign a 22-page contract that preventing them from talking about the program.

So far, CBS is standing behind this show. They said that safety precautions were taken and that producers, staff, and even child psychiatrists were on hand at all times throughout the shoot.

What do you think? Will you watch “Kid Nation?”
