If you cannot paint, try covering the walls with fabric. A few staple holes at the very top and bottom of the wall are hardly noticeable. They are easily patched when you get ready to move out. If you aren’t handy when it comes to repairs, or if you move often, you might want to cover only one wall. It will still inject color and creating a focal wall is a great way to add drama.
Another method is painting large canvases or lightweight wood in vibrant colors to hang on the walls. You can also pick up large, inexpensive poster or picture frames and cover them with batting and attractive fabric.
Take care when hanging these items. Always repair nail holes before moving out so you won’t lose your security deposit. Not allowed to use nails? Simply lean your creations against the wall or set them atop large pieces of furniture.
