Yesterday was the day to take stock of gifts. I’m better organized now for the late shopping trip I’ll need to make. Hopefully, after that, I’ll be done. However, I will be adding some ideas for last minute -very last minute- Christmas gifts later.
Today is a good day to inventory other items.
Do you have fresh batteries for your camera? If you have a camera that needs film or a video camera that uses video tape, make sure you have plenty of these supplies. It would be very disappointing to miss special Christmas moments because cameras aren’t ready to go.
What about outdoors? Are you prepared for a white Christmas? Add a bag of salt to your shopping list. Continue checking the forecast as it gets closer to Christmas so you know what to expect.
*Kitty litter works on ice and snow too. Spread it out and tamp it down to build up better traction.
If snow or even rain is going to be an issue, you will need somewhere to stash wet shoes and boots. You can purchase boot trays from simple plastic or rubber ones to more stylish options. These are great to have throughout the year to help protect flooring (and you can make your own in a pinch by lining large, shallow boxes such as from a case of canned goods, with newspaper).
How is the kitchen looking? Are the kitchen items organized so they will be handy when it’s time to bake Christmas cookies or prepare Christmas dinner? Check out the Countdown articles at the bottom of the page for more tips. The tips focused on Thanksgiving but many of them also apply to Christmas, from cooking and linens to reminders and more.
If you plan to be away over the holidays, this is a good time to firm up arrangements for house-sitting or pet sitting.
*If you could still use a few last minute Christmas decorations, please check back tomorrow for some ideas.
