Ten Fitness Facts That You Should Know

When it comes to fitness facts, the following facts are for you to remember and hopefully inspire you to do more and reach further. Oh and if you needed more reasons to exercise – I think these 10 fitness facts might have some oomph for you to add to your workout.

  • The average male will exercise about 115 days total in the year – that’s roughly twice a week
  • When it comes to skipping exercise, over 90% of men say they will skip it if it conflicts with another activity – like watching a game or going out with the boys
  • Despite those numbers, just about 70% of men believe they are physically fit
  • More than 50% of people who begin an exercise program abandon it before the first 12 months pass
  • Of the 70% of men who think they are physically fit, about 13% are
  • 45% of people who own fitness equipment use it more for hanging clothes than working out (and no, that’s not a shirt you see hanging on the end of my treadmill right now)
  • The average person who exercises regularly can save nearly a $1000 a year on medical expenses
  • The average person who exercises regularly sleeps better, eats more nutritionally and is far less stressed
  • When it comes to being active, 100% of active people are healthier than their friends
  • Regular exercise can cost as little as $100 per year for exercise gear to $1200 per year for clothes, gym memberships and personal trainers

The simple truth is – the cost of exercise versus the cost of not exercising – the answer should be a no-brainer. You can work out regularly without spending a lot of money – walking and basic workouts just need comfy clothes and your own participation. The walking shoes I use only cost about $25 – so tell me, do you still have excuses for why you don’t work out regularly?
