It is official! My daughter has lived longer outside of the womb now than inside. In that time she has gained ten pounds and grown more than eight inches in height. She is very comfortable in her autumn and winter inspired wardrobe and finds that her six to twelve month clothes fit the best even though I cannot help buying her clothes a size bigger! In ten months she was only accomplished growing a very small amount of blond hair on top of her head (her brother had more hair at birth than she has now). Now that she is ten months old she really found her voice and talks (babbles) almost non stop. She also stubbornly refused to use the signs that we have been teaching her even though she knows what they mean. She would rather grab or hit at what she wants (which oftentimes is to nurse). She is always ready and willing to go after what she wants no matter the obstacles in her way. She is also learning to hold her own when playing with other children even her big brother (which is a tall order because he is pretty bossy). As it goes with siblings, she would rather have the toys that her brother is playing with and he only wants toys once she decides she wants to play with them. When she spends time with her “baby” cousins (four weeks and three months older than her), she is very clear that taking the toys that she is playing with is not acceptable! She will, however, accept a good argument or another toy in exchange for what she has. She enjoys reading …. or rather eating books! While she is not opposed to having a book read to her, she would much rather hit the colorful pictures and try to put them in her mouth, much to her brother’s horror.
