Terrific Frugal Centerpieces for Autumn

I preach so often the whole trash to treasure concept, but it’s important to remember also to use what you already have around your house for decorating in a more frugal fashion.

Autumn is my favorite time of year so I enjoy decorating my house to reflect that. The best part is that it can last for up to three months before I have to take any of it down.

I have provided a few cute and classy ideas for autumn themed centerpieces for your dining room table, or even on a mantle or side table.

Try these around the home and feel a little autumn come into your home without spending much money at all.

Ceramic or Wooden Bowls lined with a pretty cloth or napkins and filled with fruit and or gourds is a festive tabletop decoration.

Take an empty glass jar and hot glue acorns, dried leaves & cinnamon sticks to the outside and place a votive candle inside.

Take several apples and carve out the insides. Allow to dry out for a few days. Add a tea light candle into the inside of the apple and arrange them in the center of the table.

Decorating with baskets is great because you can reuse them season after season by replacing what is inside. For a nice autumn basket, place a seasonal place mat underneath. Inside the basket add pine cones, oranges and apples. Perhaps even a few acorns or other natural treasures.

If you have empty glass jars, fill the bottoms with cracked corn and place a candle in the middle. Tie a fall ribbon or some raffia or jute around the outside of the jar.

Take a small plate and place it in the center of your table. Add a cluster of different sized candles and then sprinkle Halloween candy such as candy corn or candy pumpkins all around plate. This looks very festive.

An extra idea that isn’t a centerpiece:

Enjoy scent? Want to add a little to your home? You can simmer apple peels and cinnamon sticks on the stove. You can also use things like vanilla extract, etc. Just be sure to watch the pot so that it doesn’t scorch or burn.
