Thanksgiving Day – Give Yourself a Day Off

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all and while I shared a number of my thankful thoughts yesterday, I wanted to give everyone who wants to take a day off from their workout a free pass today. Seriously, it’s a day to spend with family and friends. Whether you play games, throw around a football, kick back and watch the game on television or something else – taking a day off can be great for you mentally, physically and emotionally.

Turkey Day Shuffle

Some of you are traveling today, driving a few miles to spend the day with family. Some of you may already be on the road or waiting for family to arrive and spend time with you. You could be cooking all-day and preparing to eat a rather large meal. Thanksgiving is traditionally a day of over eating and you may be feeling guilty if you’re piling on the calories without hitting the treadmill or going for a long walk.

Don’t.

Today is Thanksgiving and you’re going to be preoccupied doing the Turkey Day Shuffle. Tomorrow is Black Friday and for some of us that means rising well before the sun to make it to the store and to hunt out the best bargains of the day. I’m still on the fence whether I’ll be out there busting a hump tomorrow morning because nothing on my Christmas list needs me to be there for a sale.

Take the Day Off

Give yourself a break today. Enjoy the time with family and friends. Be thankful for the bounty of the past year and brace yourself as you look ahead towards Christmas and more. Tomorrow will be here soon enough and you can do the Christmas Countdown workout for the next few weeks to help trim back the excess holiday weight gain and to keep yourself in shape.

We’ll be back here tomorrow with suggestions and more for you – until then – have a great Thanksgiving!
