This was a light week here in the Baby Blog; I’ve been preoccupied elsewhere and my regular writing companion here, Valorie Delp, will only be guesting from time to time now. In the meanwhile, if you want to check on her and what’s going on, take a look over atthe Home Schooling Blog, Valorie is a great writer and she has a lot of interesting things to say.
In the meanwhile, this last week, we took a good look at The Best of October in the Baby Blog and the series that Valorie did in October titled The Inner Workings of Your Baby’s Mind.
We continued through the week, with articles such as Dear Mom, Was I this Hard? because you have to wonder as you are caring for your own child – what did your parents go through when you were this age. There is nothing like having your own baby to bond you to your parents, as you understand the trials, the tribulations and the struggles.
In The Pursuit of Intelligence Valorie writes an amusing albeit frighteningly true description of shopping in a mall only to find eager salespeople wanting to bargain with you over your baby’s intelligence and how you might be made out to be the bad parent for not investing in their products.
As parents, spending time away from our little ones can leave us feeling guilty and inadequate and we address those feelings in Conflicted About Business Travel and how you can take advantage of a business trip to get some necessary downtime from the family. We capped off the end of the week with a description of Do You Know What a Safe Haven Is? and answering this question for those of you may now know of the safe haven laws that began in 1999 and provide shelter and immunity for parents who take advantage of it for newborns and infants that are dropped off at an emergency room or other safe haven shelter.
It’s been a light week here, but we’ve taken our time with each article and hope you find something to enjoy from them. In the meanwhile, let us know what was your favorite story and I hope you have a great rest of your weekend!
