The Baby Week in Review October 21-27

Welcome to this week’s Baby Week in Review as we go over all the stories that were covered in the Baby Blog for the week of October 21 through the 27th. There was a lot of ground covered this week and we’re heading into the end of October and beginning of November. Next month marks my baby’s 6th birthday and I keep wondering how we got so far, so fast. Still, I get to relive some of the great moments and share my memories here in the baby blog. So without further ado, here is our Baby blog week in review:

Saturday, October 21

In Your Baby and Emotional & Social Milestones Valorie offered a look at the emotional and social milestones you baby will experience. It’s important to remember that this is a guideline and it’s the perfect capper to her great series on The Inner Workings of Your Baby’s Mind. In Developing a Taste for Literature we discussed teaching our toddlers about handling books and the best kind of books to let them have hands on access to. In How to Build a Playgroup we talked about how you can form your own playgroup and how to set up the rules.

Sunday, October 22

In What You Need to Know About RSV Season Valorie addressed what respiratory syncytial virus is and how it affects babies, especially those under the age of 2. In most children and adults, the virus manifests itself as a simple cold with the runny nose and low fever.

Monday, October 23

In 5 Creative Gifts for Baby’s First Christmas Valorie gave some advice for parents wanting to mark their baby’s first Christmas with some great gift ideas. For most of us, Christmas shopping is already getting started, even though we’ve not achieved Thanksgiving yet.

Tuesday, October 24

In Teaching Your Toddler Mind Their Ps & Qs – Seriously! we discussed that while teaching a toddler manners may seem as simple as herding cats, there are things we can do to help teach our toddlers proper manners and how to be kind to others. In Toddlers: Learning to Share the Stage we discussed the ways you can help your toddler socialize and accept the sometimes mommy or daddy’s attention is elsewhere.

Wednesday, October 25

We took the day off today, but came back raring to go on Thursday.

Thursday, October 26

In Baby on the Way? New Dad Advice we offered some great suggestions for dads who are expecting their first child. In Baby Sign Language: Good or Bad? Valorie asks the question about whether baby sign language really is all that it’s touted to be since it’s the latest rage in baby communication. In My Toddler Empties Everything – Everything! we tackled the empty out phase that all toddlers go through and the importance of this developmental stage. In The First Parting – Prepare Yourself and Your Baby we talked about the ways that parents can prepare for leaving their little one with a baby sitter for the first time.

Friday, October 27

In Stages of Baby Fussiness – The First 12 Weeks Valorie tackled the different ways newborns cope with the world, from being happy as a clam one day to being clingy and miserable the next. In Friday Baby Funnies: Fun Advice For Babies we looked at some humorous ways to cope with common baby questions and issues.
