The Benefits of the Lunch Menu

When you eat out, ordering from the lunch menu can really save you money. But did you know that there are certain ways and times to do this? Read on for some tips about the benefits of ordering from the lunch menu.

Why order from the lunch menu?

The pricing for items on the lunch menu are usually significantly less money that those items that are on the dinner menu. Sometimes you get the same menu options in smaller portions, and sometimes the portion size is exactly the same as the one offered at dinner, despite the decrease in price.

It is rare to have a restaurant serve the same choices for both lunch and dinner. It does happen, and you will see below that I have included some tips for dealing with such an instance, but again, that isn’t usually the case.

When there is a separate lunch menu

Try to time your restaurant visit so you can take advantage of that lunch menu. If you would rather go out to dinner and not lunch, just schedule your visit at the end of the lunch period, which may be late enough.

The other tip is that you can often ask if you can order from the lunch menu even at dinner time! Many restaurants will allow this and still only charge your the lunch menu prices!

When there is not a separate lunch menu

When there is not a separate lunch menu, you can possibly do two things to be able to order a more lunch like meal, or take advantage of lunch meal prices. The first is to ask if there are certain extras that come with ordering lunch. Bertucci’s, for example, usually offers a large family salad with its entrees, but only during lunch hours. Ask if you can take advantage of this even if it isn’t lunch time.

The second thing you can do is to ask for a smaller more lunch like portion with a reduced price. If this isn’t possible, ask if you can order from the senior or kids menu, even if you aren’t a senior. These portions are usually enough to satisfy most appetites without leftovers.
