About the Author:
In 1962, the first Berenstain Bears books were published by Stan and Jan Berenstain. Mike Berenstain grew up watching his parents work together to write stories and draw the famous bears. Mike began to write and draw his own stories of the bear family. Sadly, Stan passed away in 2005 followed by his wife, Jan, in 2012. Continuing the tradition, Mike creates Berenstain Bear adventures from his home in Pennsylvania.
Book Synopsis:
In The Berenstain Bears: God Bless the Animals, Mama and Papa Bear, with their lovable cubs in tow, embark on a fun-filled nature walk through Bear Country. They encounter many of their animal friends, each in their own cozy spots. Among them are Mr. Skunk, who’s hiding in the woods, and a horned owl, who’s high in a tree. In a pond, there’s a family of ducks having fun as they wade.
The Bears are delighted at how they can meet so many different species by simply walking around God’s great Earth, so close to their own home! Flaps on every page allow readers to peak behind and discover which creature on the bears’ nature walk will pop up next!
My Thoughts:
I have loved the Berenstain Bears since I was a child. I am delighted to see more books being released and even more delighted to introduce the Bear family to my own children. We all enjoyed going on the nature walk with Papa, Mama, and the cubs. The lift a flap style is always a favorite among small children. Even I enjoy seeing what is under the flap. The simple text, God honoring theme, and life a flap feature makes it an easy choice. So many simple and important lessons in this sweet book.
