The Best Brownies

I know I should stay away from desserts, but I have a toddler who loves chocolate. We try to limit the amount of chocolate he has, but I do like to give him a treat every now and then. I found this recipe on the Hershey web page – which means you KNOW it will be yummy!

For this best brownies recipe, you will need butter, sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, all-purpose flour, Hershey’s cocoa, baking powder, salt, chopped nuts (optional), light corn syrup, and milk. The brownies will need frosting, but you can make that up while waiting for your brownies to cook.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. You will need a 9-inch square baking pan for your brownies. In a large bowl, mix 1/2 cup of butter, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. With that mixed well, add 2 eggs and mix again. In a separate bowl, combine 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/3 cup of Hershey’s cocoa, 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Gradually add that mixture to the egg mixture and stir until blended well. Add nuts now if so desired. Grease the baking pan and add your batter to it. Place it in the oven and allow the brownies to cook for 20 – 25 minutes. When done, it should pull away from the side of the pan.

While the brownies are cooking, you can make your brownie frosting. In a small bowl, beat 3 tablespoons of butter, 3 tablespoons of Hershey cocoa, 1 tablespoon of light corn syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 or 2 tablespoons of milk and beat until it is thick enough to spread.

When the brownies are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool. Spread the creamy frosting over them and cut into squares.
