The Best-Dressed Cops

And the winners are… Washington State Patrol troopers.

And you thought fashion awards were reserved exclusively for the likes of Halle Berry and Julia Roberts.

If you have ever been pulled over for speeding in “The Evergreen State” then you might not be surprised to learn that the state patrol there has just been named America’s “Best-Dressed State Law Enforcement Agency” by the National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors.

Members of the state patrol don crisp black bow ties and blue “Smokey Bear” hats at the start of each shift. And according to the national trade group, the outfits are the best-looking state police uniforms in the country.

Judges say they were impressed by the formality of the Washington troopers’ uniforms. The winning outfit includes the aforementioned black bow tie, which is paired with a long-sleeved blue shirt, with darker blue pocket flaps, epaulets and cuffs. The troopers also wear matching blue pants that feature a dark blue stripe down the side. The law enforcement officers top off their uniforms with a peaked, flat-brimmed dark blue felt cap. (Washington troopers admit that many don’t wear the formal bow tie on a daily basis.)

The following outfits may not be in the running for a fashion award, but they are part of a trend that is growing in popularity among celebrities.

Jennifer Aniston, Kate Bosworth and Ashley Olsen have all been recently photographed sporting a casual combo of plaid button down shirts paired with jeans. Olsen has been seen around the Big Apple wearing a classic red-based pattern with super skinny jeans, while Aniston has been seen around L.A. donning a comfy flannel plaid shirt and wide-leg jeans.

Meanwhile, a growing number of celebs, including Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson have been hitting the streets in cozy sweater dresses. Underwood was recently seen welcoming fall in a gray cable knit dress which she paired with leggings for a night out on the town with her rumored new beau Chance Crawford and an accessory I would predict will be around longer than her new “Gossip Girl” stud… a shiny white BCBG bag.
