Yesterday, I blogged about bad fast food breakfasts. They may taste great, but do you really need your daily allowance of calories, fat, and sodium in one meal?
Here are more bad choices and remember, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends between 18 and 31 grams of saturated fat subtracted from a total of 65 grams of fat, and less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium for a 2,000 calorie diet.
Burger King Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Platter – I am a sucker for biscuits and sausage gravy, but can do without the 680 calories. And the sodium count on this one (2,350) exceeds the daily recommended amount alone! Another Burger King offender is the Double Croissan’wich with Sausage, Egg, and Cheese (680 calories, 49 grams of fat and 1,520 milligrams of sodium). The Egg and Cheese Croissan’wich is a better choice at 300 calories, 16 grams of fat and 690 milligrams of sodium.
Hardee’s Double Sausage Egg n’ Cheese Biscuit – Just avoid anything with “double” in the title. This has 830 calories, 63 grams of fat, and 2,100 milligrams of sodium. Also avoid Hardee’s Loaded Breakfast Burrito (760 calories, 49 grams of fat, and 1,380 milligrams of sodium) and their deceptively titled Low Carb Breakfast Bowl (620 calories, 50 grams of fat, and 1,380 milligrams of sodium). Hardee’s really doesn’t offer many good breakfast choices, but if you must eat there, give their Sunrise Croissant with Ham a try (400 calories, 23 grams of fat, and 1,070 milligrams of sodium).
Jack in the Box Steak and Egg Burrito – Okay, having not had breakfast yet, just reading that title made my mouth water. But, it has hash browns, cheddar cheese, jack cheese, sauce, and rolls in at 821 calories, 48 grams of fat, and a whopping 1,616 milligrams of sodium. Others to avoid at Jack in the Box are the Extreme Sausage Sandwich (690 calories, 41 grams of fat, and 1,356 milligrams of sodium). Better choices include Breakfast Jack (290 calories, 12 grams of fat, and 760 milligrams of sodium) and the Bacon Breakfast Jack (300 calories, 14 grams of fat, and 730 milligrams of sodium).
Chick-fil-A Sausage Biscuit – Chik-fil-A has a reputation of being better than most fast food and while this biscuit isn’t quite as bad as some others (590 calories, 41 grams of fat, and 1,250 milligrams of sodium), it should still be avoided as should the Chik-fil-A Chicken, Egg, and Cheese Bagel on a Sunflower Multigrain Bagel. Sounds healthy with the sunflower multigrain title, right? Nope, this bagel has 530 calories, 23 grams of fat, and 1,330 milligrams of sodium. A better choice is the Chick-n-Minis (280 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 640 milligrams of sodium).
