The Big Dump

left

Our home’s sugar-free status has finally been restored.

Can I get a Hallelujah?

Following a nearly week-long candy gorge the likes of which no trick-or-treater should be allowed to attempt, my kid is back living in a sweet-free zone.

Yes, I dumped what was left of her Halloween haul.

Liberation personified.

Call me mean, nasty, insensitive, unfair, hasty… or a hold-out (I know some parents who executed the big dump a mere 24 hours after their kids’ annual holiday candy collecting was over).

Regardless, I was completely honest about my plan.

From the moment my child donned her Halloween costume, she knew she had a week to down as much of her sugar stash as humanly possible before Mommy took the leftovers and fed them to the garbage can.

You want mean, shoot your evil eye over to YouTube.

That’s where you’ll find some truly demented moms and dads (mostly dads) who took late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel up on a video challenge entitled: “Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy!”

The TV comedian thought it would be a real knee slapper to get parents to record themselves telling their kids that they ate all their Halloween candy.

Apparently, Kimmel has a ton of fans with kids. Fans, who get an almost sick thrill out of torturing their offspring. Within hours of the late night host’s dare, thousands of parents uploaded video clips of their children melting down in scenes that would surely garner the youngsters Academy awards if it were not for the fact that they weren’t acting.

Following the massive response, Kimmel noted that he thought his semi-cruel prank would make a few kids really mad, but he didn’t expect so much crying.

This from a dad of two children.

Take a look at some of the posts that went viral. What do you make of them? Is Kimmel’s joke harsh or hilarious?
