Relief Society is a truly wonderful organization for the women of the church. I remember that when I first went to Relief Society that all of the sisters in the ward went out of their way to make me feel welcome and wanted. It is a place where we can gather as sisters to form friendships, to learn and to serve each other.
I have enjoyed the time that I have spent serving in both Primary and Young Women’s, but I am always glad to be back in Relief Society. I love to attend the lessons each week. I always feel the spirit and I am grateful for the chance I have to learn. I also love the friends that I have made in Relief Society. I have learned from the older sisters about being a mother, and having patience through my trials. The Relief Society allows us to find mentors and to learn in a natural way.
I have also enjoyed the service opportunities that come to us as a result of being a member of Relief Society. I am grateful for the service projects that we can do together as we talk and get to know each other. I am also grateful for the little ways that we can serve each other. The opportunity to make a meal for a family who is going through a difficult time, or the chance to baby-sit for another sister.
All of these opportunities bring me closer to Christ. As I reach beyond my problems and myself I find a peace that I could not otherwise have. I know that Relief Society teaches me how to do this, and then challenges me to do this as it provides opportunities to serve others. I am grateful for all I have learned from the other women in Relief Society. The quiet examples they have set have truly inspired me. In what ways has Relief Society blessed your life?
