The Case of the Missing Earring 2

diamond This is a three-part series. Although it concerns the events of mostly one day, the story is divided into three. You can only get so much of a good thing at one time. Plus, I like threes. I hope you will come back each day to read it all.

Last night, in addition to the earring back, my husband and I found a second earring back and exactly one diamond earring. The other one was no where to be seen. Of course it could be anywhere in the house, depending on whether or not it was picked up by one of the gremlins in question.

Since the earring is so very small, I have my doubts that these chubby fingered gremlins would even be able to pick it up at all. My best bet, I supposed was to throughly search the headboard, the bed itself and the area around it.

This morning, while the gremlins looked on, I did just that. They were busy with spreading a pack of Old Maid cards through the house, finding a stray magic marker and scribbling on their hands, sprinkling the living room with cornbread crumbs and basically pulling out anything they could find throughout the house. Yes, it was one of those days. As long as no one was on fire or bleeding, I pretty much ignored the antics so I could concentrate on finding that earring.

I took all of the bedding off of the bed and shook it. I thought this was a good time to wash the comforter cover, so I through that and the sheets in the wash. I examined each pillow for the earring. I took out all of the items in each of the cubbies and went through it all very well. This was a good time to get rid of the box of nursing pads stored there. I ran my hand between the box spring and the mattress, Nothing.

The ending to the story is coming up tomorrow!
