Earlier this month Lyn wrote an article posing the question “What do you do when you are not in the mood?” I chuckled at her title because what wife hasn’t had that dilemma?
However, I didn’t think about it again until I was reading a recent copy of Woman’s World. One of their health articles had six tips for getting more vroom in the bedroom.
The tips ranged from getting more exercise to soaking up a little extra sunshine to eating certain intimacy-boosting foods. But it was one of the sidebars that really caught my eye.
As long as I’ve known Wayne, first thing in the morning has been his favorite time to get busy. And I mean very first thing. Like even before the crack of dawn.
Ugh!
In my book, that’s the worst time.
For one thing, the sun’s not up yet, so why should I be? For another, hello, my hair’s a mess, I have sleep in my eyes…how sexy is that? And the last, and most intimacy-inhibiting reason, can be summed up in two words: morning breath. (Not because Wayne has it. He’s one of the few people I’ve ever met whose breath never seems to get rank, not even in the morning. No, sadly I’m the one with raging dragon breath.)
Yet…
None of this phases Wayne. In fact, it seems to have the opposite effect. Mussed hair, stinky breath, sleepy eyes all equals sexy.
What?
I have never ever been able to figure it out. Until now, that is. After reading this article which said “hormones that maximize performance and pleasure peak between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m., making the morning prime time for lovemaking.”
Ah, that explains it. Sort of. (It’s been 20 years so I can safely say I’ll never feel comfortable getting intimate before I’ve had a chance to brush my teeth and gargle. But if he accepts me in all my stinky glory? Well…then it must be love!)
Still, I just wish he could fight the urge to get frisky until closer to seven or eight instead of even before five!
