The Evolution of Celebrity Couples

DATING

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem may have a hard time denying rumors that they are an official couple after the world sees how cozy they were during a recent vacation in the Maldives.

Earlier this week paparazzi snapped dozens of shots of the Spanish actors in their swimsuits frolicking and cuddling together on the beach bordering their hut in the Maldives. The pair was first linked a few months ago, but back then Cruz (Tom Cruise’s former flame) denied a relationship existed.

“It’s not true,” Cruz told reporters this summer. “He’s a friend and the best actor in the world.”

However, a few days ago the New York Post reported that the pair is now much more than “just friends.” Thirty-three-year-old Cruz and 38-year-old Bardem, who earned a best-actor Oscar nomination in 2001 for Before Night Falls, recently shot an upcoming Woody Allen film together in Spain.

ENGAGED

From friends to fiancés. According to news reports, actress Rose McGowan is engaged to director Robert Rodridguez.

The New York Post was the first to make the call after the couple attended Hollywood events last month and McGowan was seen sporting a large diamond ring on her left hand.

The 34-year-old actress who was previously engaged to rocker Marilyn Manson met Rodriguez in 2006 when he directed her in the Planet Terror portion of the Grindhouse double feature.

“He’s my best friend,” McGowan told reporters in June. “We instantly became really good friends.”

Where have we heard that before?

MARRIED

While McGowan and Cruz are keeping mum about their respective relationships, actress Kim Fields is busy spreading the word about her summer wedding to the father of her infant son.

The former “Facts of Life” star gave birth to a son, Sebastian “Sam” Alexander Morgan, in early May. Then, she says, she quietly tied the knot with her Broadway actor boyfriend, Christopher Morgan, in July.

Fields says she and Morgan were married by a longtime friend in a small, private ceremony, with just Sam and another longtime family friend present.
