Kids love to do work on the computer. Somehow even the hardest subject digests easier if a keyboard and a mouse are involved. Parents also seem to love the convenience of having their student work online. No paper work, progress reports are automatic and normally there are no tears involved. One such online program is The Factor Tree.
The Factor Tree is an online math supplemental program for children in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. This online program is not intended to replace a math curriculum but enhance your current curriculum. Let’s be honest, if we need to supplement the last thing we want or our children want is one more book. Taking a break from a book to enhance skills or work on weak skills in a different setting like online is welcomed by both parents and children.
Each student signed up for the program is first given an evaluation test. The test will assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses. The assessment is then used to customize your child’s learning experience. The parent can keep close watch on the progress through the teacher admin pages from knowing statistics of progress to exact problems missed.
Personally, I love the simple layout. The program is easy to navigate for both the parent and the child. The background is clean with all problems being done on a virtual blackboard. The program has few distractions but focuses intently on study yet it does not bore the student. Another plus for The Factor Tree is the approach. While many argue over mastery or spiral approach to math as far as which is superior, The Factor Tree utilizes both concepts. I also think using both methods is the best way to teach math for true understanding.
The opportunity to try The Factor Tree was presented to me because I’m a Bzz Agent. I have been encouraged to pass along a free opportunity to other parents who are interested in trying The Factor Tree. Simply register and put “BzzAgent” for the promo code and you will get 14 days free. You will not need a credit card to register. I encourage you to try it out!
