We’ve negotiated a smooth segue from January to February. For most of us, January is a month of transition, we’re recovering from the holidays, we’re going back to school, we’re going back to work, we’re getting started on new work out programs and new goals. February is different though. February means the New Year isn’t just arrived, it’s here, we’re in it, we’re down in the shallow end and we’re starting to really wade out into the year.
It’s been an interesting week here for me and as I described in a blog I wrote late yesterday, I’m waiting on test results and further testing to find out whether I may or may not have cancer. In the meanwhile, I want to focus on all the positives and things we can do to improve our fitness. Fitness is a key element when it comes to fighting disease and illness – it also helps to have a positive mindset, so all the positive thoughts you have I appreciate it.

Saturday, January 27
My daughter is participating in a fundraiser through her school for the American Heart Association called Hoops for Hearts – A Daughter’s Goals. The idea is to raise money for research and education to improve and make the heart healthier.
Sunday, January 28
Stroller Skating – Do You Stroller Skate? described a neat trend and physical exercise available to moms and dads alike who can take their babies to the skating rink and skate for their health and what a great benefit that Blog 2000 & Roller Skating: Check It Out can do for you. This is also the day that saw my 2000th blog posted to Families.com since I began in December of 2005. Amazing, isn’t it?
Monday, January 29
For athletes wanting to improve themselves, this is How to Weight Train for Running & Cycling. And Valorie discussed her own progress in 10,000 Steps and Counting: I Failed …. But I don’t see it as a failure, I just see that she reset the bar to a new starting point and if she learned anything about herself, that’s always an accomplishment. In Fitness DVD Reviews: Crunch – Boot Camp Training (1999), we took a look at one of the best fitness DVDs that I’ve seen in a long time.

Your Body & Aging focuses you on the details of what your body goes through as it ages and how regular exercise can help. In Exercise on Your Own Terms we took a long look at ExerciseTV and FitTV and what they offer to viewers in fitness on television. In January for a Yoga Teacher, Clarissa explores what her month has been like.
Wednesday, January 31
Our End of January Fitness Check Up reviewed how our goals were going as well as our progress in the month of January. Okay, I Admit it – This Freaks Me Out discusses the research currently involving cannabis and developing a medicine that would shut off the hunger receptors in the brain. In Fitness Tips: Your Annual Checkup I discussed the need for getting a check up every year and that I was going on Thursday to get my own check up done.

In our latest Dear Heather … I’m Pregnant we talked to a reader who was feel frustrated over the fact that despite her latest fitness plans, discovering she was pregnant was a mixed blessing and she wanted some ideas on how to continue her fitness plans in light of her pregnancy. In Women’s Fitness: Your Heart & Your Health talks about coronary heart disease in women and what we need to know about it. Do you know that The Yoga Path – Confidence provides you with a way to change you life and Clarissa talks about how it has affected hers.
